Game of Shadows 2011 Sherlock Holmes

“Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows” 2011 Warner Brothers

“LOST MY STUB” Review Jan 2012 (MZ: #D-4)

Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Jared Harris, Noomi Rapace & Rachel McAdams

I was asked recently “Why, don’t review newer films in theaters” So here we go, fans
Now ordinarily I do not see films like this, however in this case I went with an
extremely attractive, intelligent, humorous blond lady !!! So as you might Imagine I was happy to go…

Where do we begin, lets start with Robert Downey Jr. well I can never really get past his (real life) performance in “Less Than ZERO” as well as when my Dad, Dr. W.A. Schwinden Jr. was the on site Psychotherapist for a certain California Penal Institution, his very first patient was in fact none other than Mr. Robert Downey Jr. and how Downey’s real life antics mirror his on screen characters. But !!! here’s a guy who truly gets better with age.

As I mentioned this kind of film is not really may bag, you dig. However I enjoyed it. I have been told most Guy Ritchie films are kind of done in the same theme, view forward, the scene happens in slow motion, and the a rewind. Which I personally feel is essential to this film, the viewer gets a look into the mind of Sherlock, what he sees and an idea of how he thinks… I am on the fence about Holmes disheveled look in this film and his fringe of madness attitude. I was captivated by Moriarty I feel this part was played beautifully by Harris. I think there’s enough for everybody, drama, comedy, action, intrigue & mystery. I am not too drawn to Rapace, however I find McAdams, smashing !!! There a great scene with McAdams and Holmes brother…

In closing, if I can enjoy a film that I know is really not my thing, then that’s a good film. I give it a 3 Stars.

Until the next time….MrZero
