My good buddy <strong><em>Eric<\/em><\/strong> used to work at our local recordshop <strong><em><u>&#8220;Uncle John&#8221;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> one time when I was hanging out in there, I saw strange looking album by a band called <strong><em>&#8220;Twisted Sister&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> I asked Eric <em>&#8220;So<\/em> <em>what&#8217;s with these guys&#8221;<\/em> he said <em>&#8220;Oh, they&#8217;re great, here I&#8217;ll put it on&#8221;<\/em> &amp; then <em>&#8220;What<\/em> <em>You Don&#8217;t Know&#8221; &#8220;Shoot &#8216;Em Down&#8221; &amp; &#8220;Under The Blade&#8221;<\/em> came blasting through the P.A. &amp; I was hooked &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>&gt; Sliver Star: 1972 &lt;<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The band started out as <strong><em><u>&#8216;Silver Star&#8217;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> in <strong><em>1972,<\/em><\/strong> essentially the <strong><em><u>New Jersey<\/u><\/em><\/strong> version of the <strong><em><u>&#8216;New York Dolls&#8217;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> when their new guitarist <strong><em><u>John Segall<\/u><\/em><\/strong> later known as; <strong><em><u>Jay Jay<\/u><\/em><\/strong> <strong><em><u>French <\/u>(20 Jul 1952; NYC)<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 who; was earlier passed over for joining <strong><em><u>\u2018Rainbow-<\/u><\/em><\/strong> <strong><em><u>Wicked Lester\u2019 (KISS)<\/u><\/em><\/strong> recommend a name change\u00a0 to <strong><em><u>&#8216;Twister Sister&#8217;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> in <strong><em><u>Feb &#8217;73,<\/u><\/em><\/strong> after the current <em>&#8220;Glam Rock Scene&#8221;<\/em> happening in <em>New York City<\/em>, to compete with the local heroes like: <strong><em><u>&#8216;The Brats&#8217; &amp; &#8220;Harlots Of 42nd Street&#8217; &amp; &#8216;Teenage Lust&#8217;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> well, that list goes on &amp; on. There was no less than <strong><em>10 different<\/em><\/strong> members of the band, before <strong><em>French<\/em><\/strong> recruited <strong><em><u>Eddie &#8220;Fingers&#8221; O&#8217;Jeda<\/u> (5\u00a0 Aug 1955; NYC)<\/em><\/strong> on <em>Guitar <\/em>in <strong><em><u>&#8217;75<\/u><\/em><\/strong>, followed by <strong><em><u>Danial &#8220;Dee&#8221; Snider<\/u> (15 Mar 1955; Astoria, NY)<\/em><\/strong> on <em>Vocals<\/em>, in <strong><em><u>&#8217;76<\/u><\/em><\/strong> &amp; <strong><em><u>Mark &#8220;Animal&#8221; Mendoza<\/u> (Glickman: 13 Jul 1955; W. Hampstead, NY)<\/em><\/strong> the <em>Bassist <\/em>from <strong><em><u>&#8216;The Dictators&#8217;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> who joined in <strong><em><u>&#8217;78<\/u><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 &amp; finally\u00a0 <strong><em><u>A.J. Pero<\/u> (Anthony Jude Pero: 14<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>Oct 1959; Staten Island, NY \u2013 20 Mar 2015)<\/em><\/strong> on <em>Drums<\/em> in <strong><em><u>&#8217;81<\/u><\/em><\/strong>, there were <em>6 other<\/em> <em>members<\/em> in the band from <em>1977 to \u201881<\/em> but this is what is commonly referred to as the classic lineup.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>&gt; Shoot &#8216;Em Down: 1982 &lt;<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The band released an Independent <em>45 Single<\/em> in <strong><em>\u201879<\/em><\/strong> &#8220;<strong><em><u>I&#8217;ll Never Grow Up, Now&#8221;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> on their own before their 1st official release <strong><em><u>&#8216;Ruff Cuts&#8217;<\/u><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0on <strong><em><u>Secret Records<\/u><\/em><\/strong> in <strong><em><u>1982.<\/u><\/em><\/strong> Starting in <em>Summer &#8217;82<\/em> <strong><em><u>MTV<\/u><\/em><\/strong> started broadcasting <strong><em>&#8220;Music Videos&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> which by <strong><em>Dec &#8217;84<\/em><\/strong> had essentially replaced the <strong><em><u>45 RPM, 7&#8243; Vinyl Single<\/u><\/em><\/strong> as a viable marketing medium. <strong><em><u>&#8216;Twisted Sister&#8217;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> released the 1st full LP on <strong><em>Secret Records<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 <strong><em><u>&#8216;Under The Blade&#8217;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> in <strong><em>Sep &#8217;82<\/em><\/strong> <em>(later re-issued on Atlantic)<\/em> taking full advantage of the <em>&#8220;Promo Music Video&#8221;<\/em> the band released 2 videos for this LP; <strong><em><u>&#8220;Bad Boys&#8221; &amp; &#8220;Under The Blade&#8221;<\/u><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>&gt; We&#8217;re Gonna Make It: 1983 &lt;<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The band gained some notoriety on the <em>BBC program<\/em> <strong><em><u>&#8220;The Tube&#8221;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> &amp; was soon signed to <strong><em><u>Atlantic Records<\/u><\/em><\/strong>, releasing their <em>2nd LP<\/em> <strong><em><u>&#8216;You Can&#8217;t Stop Rock &amp; Roll&#8217;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> in <strong><em>Jun &#8217;83<\/em><\/strong> with these 3 videos; <strong><em><u>&#8220;I Am , I&#8217;m Me&#8221; &#8220;Kids Are Back&#8221; &amp; &#8220;You Can&#8217;t Stop R &amp; R&#8221;<\/u><\/em><\/strong>. In the <strong><em><u>UK<\/u><\/em><\/strong> <em>12&#8243; Vinyl Singles<\/em> were more popular than traditional <em>&#8220;Full Length Albums&#8221; &amp;<\/em> <em>especially 45 singles<\/em>. Since <strong><em>Twisted Sister<\/em><\/strong> was way more popular in the <strong><em>UK<\/em><\/strong> they released several <em>12&#8243; Singles,<\/em> on the <em>&#8220;A-Side&#8221;<\/em> was the featured song &amp; on the <em>&#8220;B-Side&#8221;<\/em> they included up to <em>3 &#8220;Live&#8221; tracks<\/em> from a <strong><em>1983 Concert<\/em><\/strong>, so if you had all of the <em>12&#8243;<\/em> <em>Singles (like I did)<\/em> <strong><em><u>&#8220;I\u00a0 Am, I&#8217;m Me&#8221; &amp; &#8220;Kids Are Back&#8221; &amp; &#8220;We&#8217;re Not Gonna Take It&#8221;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> you could assemble the <em>&#8220;Live Show&#8221;<\/em> that the band was so famous for! Here is the track list:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>*1983 Mar 5 &amp; 6 Marquee Club UK<\/u><br \/>\nWhat You Don&#8217;t Know <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Bad Boys Of Rock N Roll<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Run For Your Life<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Tear It Loose<br \/>\nDestroyer<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s Only Rock N Roll (Dee&#8217;s Rap)<br \/>\nKid&#8217;s Are Back<br \/>\nSin After Sin<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Shoot Em Down<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>&gt;\u00a0 The Price: 1984 &lt;<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In <strong><em><u>1984 MTV<\/u><\/em><\/strong> was at its zenith &amp; so was <strong><em>&#8216;Twisted Sister&#8217;<\/em><\/strong> they released their 3rd LP\u00a0 <strong><em><u>&#8216;Stay Hungry&#8217;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> in <strong><em><u>May &#8217;84<\/u><\/em><\/strong> with the videos; <strong><em><u>&#8220;I Wanna Rock&#8221; &#8220;We&#8217;re Not Gonna Take It&#8221; &#8220;SMF&#8221; &amp; &#8220;The Price&#8221;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> &amp; made an appearance in <strong><em><u>&#8220;Pee Wee&#8217;s Big Adventure&#8221;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> film with <strong><em><u>&#8220;Burn In Hell&#8221;.<\/u><\/em><\/strong> In the mid <strong><em>80s MTV<\/em><\/strong> was the driving force in the music industry <em>(they could make you or break you)<\/em> 1 of the unique programs they broadcast was the <strong><em><u>&#8220;MTV Saturday Night Concert&#8221;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> which, the band appeared; here&#8217;s the track list from the <strong><em><u>19 May 1984 in San Bernardino @ the Orange Show Pavilion<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Kids Are Back<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>We&#8217;re Not <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>I Wanna Rock<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Under Blade<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Beast<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>You Can&#8217;t Stop<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Price<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Stay Hungry <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Burn In Hell<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>SMF<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>&gt; King Of Fools: 1985 &lt; <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the band&#8217;s <em>4th LP<\/em> <strong><em><u>&#8216;Come Out &amp; Play&#8217;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> released in <strong><em><u>Nov &#8217;85<\/u><\/em><\/strong> they also released 3 videos; <strong><em><u>&#8220;Leader Of The Pack&#8221; &#8220;Be Crool to Your Scuel&#8221; &amp; &#8220;You Want What We Got&#8221;<\/u><\/em><\/strong>, unfortunately, the very thing that made the band so popular, was the very same thing that effectively ended their popularity, after <em>18 months (which is the average zenith<\/em> <em>of any Pop Star or Band)<\/em> of humorous <strong><em>MTV videos<\/em><\/strong>, the band was now seen as a <em>one trick pony<\/em>, this LP did not do well at all, compared to the previous LPs sales. They did release 1 final LP under the <strong><em><u>&#8216;Twisted Sister&#8217;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> name: <strong><em><u>&#8216;Love Is For Suckers&#8217;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> which came out in <strong><em><u>Aug &#8217;87<\/u><\/em><\/strong> with the accompanying videos<strong><em><u>\u201dHot Love&#8221; &amp; &#8220;Tonight&#8221;<\/u><\/em><\/strong> a departure from <em>sound &amp; image<\/em>, just wasn&#8217;t enough, as the LP didn&#8217;t do anything for the band or the tour that followed for this LP, their final show was in <strong><em><u>MPLS: 10 Oct 1987 @<\/u><\/em><\/strong> <strong><em><u>Orpheum,<\/u><\/em><\/strong> when, after the show <strong><em><u>Dee<\/u><\/em><\/strong> quit the band. They did reunite for a\u201d911 Tribute\u201d in 2001, but that&#8217;s another story.
