As a kid in Sioux City, I was more into listening to 45 Records than I was comic books, but there were a few comics I collected those being; Iron Man, Hawk Man & Aquaman. So I was fairly excited when the 2017 “Just League” film had Aquaman in it. Then in 2018 will release the film “Aquaman” I was able to see an advance of this film recently.
To my surprise Joseph Momoa was (1 August 1979) was raised and went to school in Norwalk, Iowa a mere 15 min. from Southridge Mall, where I worked at the very same time (1991- 1995), being a music fanatic & musician Momoa and his classmate, as teenagers (they graduated in 1997) Brandon Routh (9 October 1979 Des Moines, Iowa) “Superman/ The Atom” surly visited the “RecordShop” I worked at in those days. How cool is that 2 DC characters came from the same High School in a suburb of Des Moines, Iowa.
Well the powers that be did a great job hiring such a good looking cast, Momoa for the women to dream about, & Amber Heard (22 April 1986: Austin) to me, a ringer for a 1989 version of Christina Applegate, and one of the most popular actress’ of our time, none other than Nicole Kidman (20 June 1967: Honolulu) who deserves a humanitarian award, award as far as I am concerned. It was cool to see Dolph Lundgren in a film again and using Julie Andrews: Voice as “Karathen” a nice bone to throw. The introduction of “Manta” is a nice touch, although clearly it is to set up a “Part 2” hopefully next year, I will go see it for sure.
The film, Momoa, his humorous enough to satisfy the masses, the film has plenty to take in and look at (thanks to CGI) lots of color and lights & imagery, and it moves fast enough for the “Cellphone Crowd” and the obligatory “Love Story”. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sorry folks, I only do facts & preferences NO spoilers. But like I always say “Go see it and decide for yourself, you may not like what I enjoy”
