Greetings Film Fans,
This week I am going to cover an unusual film. This one was brought to my attention by my friend Lisa, who said “I got you this movie because you remind me of the main character “Seymour” so this caught my attention, so I went home and watched it.
To my chagrin she was right… I am a odd, lonely guy who collects all kinds of junk from the past, trying to educate young folks on on the history of music & Pop Culture… (with little success, I might add)

This is the kind of story I love, misfits going through life trying to find their way without completely selling out to fit in and staying true to themselves. Enid and Rebecca are about to graduate and find themselves bored with the everyday, so they pull a shenanigan on Seymour, only to find out that in his own odd way he is kind of interesting. Seymour collects vinyl LP records and Pop Culture Art. Enid is intrigued by him and wants to learn more. There are some uncomfortably great scenes in this film. Like when the 2 girls set up the shenanigan on Seymour at the malt shop. At the Record Collecting Party. When Enid goes to the Movie Shop. When the young ladies are at the convenience store waiting for Josh and meet ‘Doug’ and Doug’s response to the Owner’s insults. Seymour’s experience at the ‘Blue’s Club’ and finding his ‘Mystery lady’

Interesting soundtrack too “Devil Got My Woman” ‘Skip James’ and Seymour’s answer to Enid “There are no more songs like that” as well as “What Do I Get” by ‘The Buzzcocks’ an appearance by: J.J. Bad Boy Jones. “Jaan Pehechan Ho” by ‘Mohammad Rafi’ as well as many other forgotten gems from the 78 RPM era, because many 78 records were never transferred to 45 or even 33 1/3 rpm records. So fans if you cheer for the underdog, this film is for you, there are some real life out comes in this film too, for example in life there is not always a happy ending, which I myself also enjoy. A quirky fim for quirky people…..

Until, the next time: MrZero
