on KISS: You like Facts don’t you?

Sorry folks ….This is in response to all the TIRED Jokes, “Another Farewell Tour” “They Phoned It In” “They Are Only In It For The Money”

Well, this is a little biased as a KISS fan of 44 Years (and StarChild in the Tribute Band: KISSin Time,

However 1st Thing: KISS has only announced 1 other “Farewell Tour” in the year 2000, it was a Farewell to “Ace & Peter” (the original Lineup); there was the 1996 Reunion Tour, the 1997, 2nd Leg of the Reunion Tour, the 1998 “Psycho Circus Tour”.

2nd thing: a minimum of 40% of the attendees went because Tickets became as cheap as $24.oo, and THEY Had Never Seen KISS before and needed yet another reason to go out Drinking (I’d bet Alcohol sales were over $1 Million Dollars, last night alone) ….

3rd: MOST People Missed the The Fact KISS Stated this Tour will Last 2.5 Years !!!!!!! As for “Phoned in” … well they did pretty good for the Youngest member of the band being 60, YES Sixty … and the oldest being 70 …. Are they in it for the Money …. DUH ! They Do Not work at a RecordStore 10 Months a year, or have a Morning Talk Radio Show as a a DJ, or Investment Bankers in a Cover Band playing the Mythe. They Are One of the Most recognizable Bands IN ROCK AND ROLL, ever … THAT IS THEIR JOB ! (Fool) And YOU The Music Listener STOPPED for the most part BUYING CDS, Cassettes and Vinyl, (you’d rather hear their WORK for free on some tiny sliver of a mp3 stream, that only pays itself for providing the service), so IF YOU Refuse to Buy The band’s Product How Do They Make a Living to pay their bills and provide for their families? Well, I’ll tell you , TOURING. To that I say ALL CEOs should do their Job for free now too, as they are only in it for the money, or maybe Waitress’ too for that matter, or do they do their work for the love of serving the public, or how about Uber Drivers, don’t they already own their vehicle, I’d like a free ride and not pay for parking, …

IF No One was Buying what KISS is $ELLING … then why, NO HOW could they continue to $ELL it to the Fans ….. Some People NEED a Band Like KISS in their Life, Because they were the nerd picked on in School, maybe they have or had a bad home life and need to escape, maybe they can not find a girl to like- love them for themself and not what that person Will provide for her, maybe  they have a vivid imagination and want to be more than a, electrician, a welder, a bus driver etc. KISS Inspired thousands of People into the ARTS, Music, Movies, Comics etc. (You know all the STUFF You Love, but Refuse to Pay for …)

Do they move on stage like the used to NO, are they better musicians then the were 40 years ago … absolutely, YES. Unfortunately Paul Stanley does Sing Along To A Pre-Recorded Vocals Track, that is what happens when you are the lead singer of a band that has toured steadily for 46 years, funny thing is YOU ALL LOVE The Half Time “Acts” (I call them Live Dancers) at the Stupid Bowl …Let Me Clue You In … That is ALL PRE- Recorded TOOO ….(oh, no … now what ?) I was Told Eric Singer (the NEW Drummer of almost 30 years), mimes the piano … well so do Actors on TV & Films … big deal. KISS came back to St. Paul to entertain you one last time … as far as I am concerned they did … Especially for $24.oo, for crying out loud Parking cost more than that. And most people spent 3 times that much on beer last night, So stop your sobbing, be entertained and enjoy The Show, MrZerrO

Dr. Rox Remembers When?”

Sorry, just because  YOU like a song or the “Classic Stations” Play a song (usually to death), does not necessarily make it a Hit ! Starting  in 1961 Billboard Magazine started tracking play counts and sales, for true “Hit” status. So many years ago, I made a CD of KISS’ “Greatest Hits” because I was sick of the “Hits” CDs the band was putting out at the time, they seemed to be more of “The Songs We Like” CDs which constitutes a “Best Of”. So I went and did ALL Of The Necessary Research. And here IS KISS’ Greatest Hits in order of their Billboard Charts Success:

Top 10
Beth/ Detroit Rock City: #7 Dec 1976
Forever #8 Apr 1990

Top 20
I Was Made For Lovin You #11 Aug 1979
Rock And Roll All Nite: Live #12 Jan 1976
New York Groove #13 Feb 1979
Hard Luck Woman #15 Feb 1977
Calling Dr. Love #16 May 1977

Top 40
Christine Sixteen #25 Sep 1977
Shout It Out Loud #31 Apr 1976
Rocket Ride #39 Apr 1978

Top 100
Hold Me, Touch Me #46 Dec 1978
Sure Know Something #47 Oct 1979
Shandi #47 July 1980
Radioactive #47 Jan 1979
Heavens On Fire #49 Nov 1984
Tears Are Falling #51 Nov 1986
World Without Heroes #56 Jan 1982
Love Gun #61 Oct 1977
Reason To Live #64 Jan 1988
Crazy Crazy Nights #65 Oct 1987
Lick It Up #66 Dec 1983
Hide Your Heart #66 Dec 1989
Rock And Roll All Nite (studio) #68 June 1975
Flaming Youth #74 June 1976
Rise To It #81 June 1990
Kissin Time #83 June 1974
Lets Put X In Sex #97 Jan 1989

Now starting in about January 1985 MTV was in Total control of a Songs popularity especially when it came to sales of singles and or albums (in general, Vinyl was the predominant format until 1984 when Cassettes took over until 1991 when CDs took over until about 2005) on the Billboard Charts. Many songs were popular Music Videos on MTV, but did not sell well on Vinyl Singles or Cassingles or even CD5 Singles, some had NO accompanying Single at all, therefore these songs did NOT or could Not Chart. You like facts don’t you?

Such as these songs for KISS:
I Love It Loud -1982
All Hells Breakin Loose -1983
Who Wants To Be Lonely -1985
God Gave Rock N Roll To You 2 -1991
Unholy -1992
Domino -1992

So there are 2 ways to make this “Hits” CD in Charting Success order or in Chronological Order. My personal preference would be the later so the listener can hear how the band evolved.
